The other night I enjoyed my first Perdomo 10th Anniversary!
The 92-rated Perdomo Reserve Maduro sports a beautiful rich and oily wrapper. This thick and oily sun-grown broadleaf maduro grown in Nicaragua, sits overtop an aged mixture of Cuban-seed long-leaf tobaccos cultivated from the black, volcanic soils of Esteli. The result is a medium to full-bodied cigar layered with rich, chocolate, a hint of coffee and sweet spices on the finish. Let’s smoke!
I really looked forward to reviewing this cigar. Prior to light up, it’s sweet aroma was remnant of a wonderful treat. After snipping the tip, the pre draw was smooth with a clear path way. No hesitation on lighting, and upon first draw an immediate billow of white smoke surfaced.
It’s even draw, smooth chocolate coffee flavor and straight effortless burn made for a very relaxing smoke.
I don’t review many cigars, as I prefer not to concentrate while I smoke, but the 10th Anniversary was far too beautiful for me not to!
Jotting the notes down and following the standard method of review inhibits my smoking experience – but a cigar woman must do what’s expected once in a while. This cigar was an occasion that I thought warranted my attention.
As I approached mid way, the strong white ash which held on until I gently removed it, maintained its steady burn and began to shift from milder to a more fuller bodied smoke. Its rich flavor laced hints of the sweet spice and a backdrop of carmel. As I approached midway, I removed the band exposing the oily shine of the dark deep Maduro.
The final third brought an even fuller appreciation, and the body of the cigar developed into a much stronger smoke as it approached the finish line. All through the cigar, the burn remained even, with a crystal clear draw, strong white ash, and the smoke was effortless.
The Perdomo 10th Anniversary is one of the better cigars I’ve enjoyed in a very long time, and a steal at $7 a stick!
