@Cigars4Women First, female.
Second, male….
I asked the question "… is the difference between a man and woman’s cigar experience influenced by gender? and does the review reflect this difference, if any?"
It was curious to me if one could tell the difference between a female cigar review or a man’s review. And better yet, what was the difference in experience……
So, here’s achallenge readers – I will post a cigar review borrowed from a womancritic, and a cigar review I will borrow from one of my male buddies,without revealing which is which… and then let’s be the judge… male or female: "I cut most of the torpedo cap and immediately obtained a perfect draw. Furthermore, I can say that the Oliva Serie V Torpedo has the most exquisite pre-draw that I’ve ever experienced." same cigar male or female: "Beautifulconstruction, nice oily complexion to it with solid veins.Pre light whiff imparted a woody yet nutty aroma…thus my mouth began watering!" I received this very revealing response from twitter….. @Cigars4Women First, female. Second, male. Have to say though….the first one doesn’t appeal to me.
The first male or female: was an excerpt taken from a review of the Oliva Serie V Torpedo by the Cigar Inspector "I cut most of the torpedo cap and immediately obtained a perfect draw. Furthermore, I can say that the Oliva Serie V Torpedo has the most exquisite pre-draw that I’ve ever experienced…..It’s quite hard to describe, the best I could come up with is a mix ofnutty and caramel flavors. This baby produced fragrant clouds of whitesmoke." The second – same cigar, male or female: was an excerpt taken from a review of the same cigar the Oliva Serie by a female member at Cigars4Women. She writes:
"Beautiful construction, nice oily complexion to it with solid veins. Pre light whiff imparted a woody yet nutty aroma…thus my mouth began watering!"
….oh, but the cutting of the cap was deceivingly easy as it was too big for my cutter but I could get just enough through to execute the perfect snip of the cap. before i go any further, I’ll admit I’ve had to work on my lighting technique, i often start out well but my cigars end up burning unevenly for some reason. anywho, i lit this one like a pro at the olympics needing to bring home the gold or else…, the toro lit evenly with lots of smoke, initially peppery for the first half inch but mellowed out a bit to reveal a very woody-nutty flavor but then the flavor faded on the tongue like wind drifting through a forest at dusk…and someone’s burning wood off in the distance…hints of oak?
thanks Dreem…you’re a Dream!
male or female… Well, I think its a draw – and I would be telling an untruth if I said I could see a distinct difference. On the other hand, this litmus test confirms what I’ve said all along… there is no difference so when will they see this?
