New Cigars from Altadis!
When I came upon this cigar at the tobacco shop – I thought about the post I wrote a while back the Cohiba v. Cohiba – tale of 2 Giants…
and I thought…how it looked so familiar, and wondered would the smoke be familiar…
“Siglo is a new brand of cigars just released by Altadis. Prior to Altadis, the Siglo name has been used before as a type or line of cigars under different brand names made by other cigar companies (most notably the Cuban Cohiba).” said Gary from About.com – ah hah…I knew it….
Blended from tobaccos of four countries: an Ecuadorian-grown wrapper,Connecticut Broadleaf binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It’s pre-light impression was sweet with a honey scent. A well constructed beauty, slightly oily and after clipping the head, the initial draw was clear and left that yummy sweet flavor.
As I write this review, the performance of this cigar reminds me of what a romantic impression this cigar left me with. For me, perhaps its my womanhood, a feminine eye, but a cigar and its culture is that – Romantic – and not every cigar is awarded that honorable description, but the Siglo was very worthy….

I had such a hard time evaluating this cigar – I wanted to sit back, rest my head and enjoy the experience – but, I did pick up this cigar with the intent of sharing my smoke – and from the light to finish, this cigar remained consistent….full, rich and with a splashing hint of cognac flavor – the romance….the dancing billow of clean white smoke swirling around me…and the traditional, sweet scent of cigar lingering in this warm spring night… I was very pleased…and it isn’t often when doing a review that I can relate my experience without going over my notes to trigger the memory, but this cigar – I can smell it!
So here it was, approaching the final third…I picked up a little floral, that splash of cognac, it remained full and strength wise, kicked up a notch…the ash was firm, the burn was even – the only slight I felt, was I thought the Cohiba looking band was a little thick, and I did have to pull at it a touch in order for it to “pop”…
THE most important test for me is the cigar’s ability to provide me with that little slice of time out…a no fuss, no muss cigar – it must smoke effortlessly…and the Siglo did just that…

So Cohiba v. Cohiba – a tale of 2 Giants…not sure where the Siglo fits in, but this Cigar gets the Ladies Nod!
Enjoy!
