….the smell of cigar smoke –
this should not be allowed. Period!
So like I said…."Gotta luv a long weekend – especially when the weather is great…good times, cook outs…
We spent the weekend away – so here I sat in the parking lot…at theHoliday Inn…in as much a secluded spot as I could find…with a viewof traffic on the 405 – just to smoke the Bacarrat I brought…
either I felt like I was 16 sneaking away for a smoke…or a fugitive"
after starting that discussion at C4W – I was reminded of this post I wrote a few months ago…
Merchants miffed over cigars Neighbors complain of smoke, smell coming from Tinder Box shop.
That was the headline from The Desert Sun, mydesert.com, Palm Springs, California. "Cigar smoke is causing a stink in downtown Palm Springs." The article reports that the Tinderbox at 200 N. Palm Canyon Drive, allowed patrons to smoke cigars at a table outside the store. The Tinderbox
, new to the downtown Palm Springs location seemed to have "miffed" off some of its new neighbors….
"You wouldn’t believe the obnoxious odor of six cigars coming in here,” said Dick Rogers, owner of the Canyon Rose Boutique, 218 N. Palm Canyon Drive.
Rogers, along with Andreas Hotel & Spa General Manager Charlie Robles, wrote to City Hall about the smoke. Robles also manages several retailers on Palm Canyon Drive, including Canyon Rose Boutique and Fit to be Tyed.
City officials stepped in, telling the Tinder Box that until it has a permit for the table, the table must be removed."
Sheesh….its a frickin’ witch hunt!
Now you tell me, do these gentlemen appear to be reckless or obnoxious?

it also appears to me, that our brothers are above ground level….doesn’t smoke rise?
And if I’m correct, how bothersome could it really be to the neighboring patrons, even at street level, the area also appears fenced out of the walkway….
"John Freedberg, owner of Desert Board Company, 220 N. Palm Canyon Drive next to the new Tinder Box location, said he has never smelled cigar smoke at his business.“That’s awful for anyone to complain,” Freedberg said. “They are bringing people here.”
Now that makes sense…
Comments to the article were very heated, from both sides of the fence.
"I support their right to give themselves mouth/tongue cancer but not to subject me to the ungodly stench of those nasty cigars."
"Keep running business out of down town & the tumble weeds are right behind…..the place is already a GHOST TOWN, & you have all the old goats who look like the walking dead anyway."
Here’s what I suggest….live and let live….take a yoga or pilate class…do some breathing exercises, get in touch with your inner selves, unite your heart and soul…try Vitamin D…its the happy pill….
And above all….don’t knock it ’till you’ve tried it…. I dedicate this tune to you…
are we the Public Enemy?
smyle….
