Ms. E - she may be the last of our series.....
definitely not the last on
Social Cigar!

"My first recollection of a good sweet aroma of piped tobacco and cigars came from my Grandfather in Puerto Rico. He frequently said “if it’s not good it’s not worth the effort” and “whatever you do, do it right the first time”. My Grandfather is long gone but his wisdom carries on."

Among the Women of Social Cigar, I found Ms. E (actually its, Elesix - I have a habit of renaming members) I found her character to be most interesting, and I scouted her down and asked that she be a part of my Women of Social Cigar series.  I thought she could give a full insight into the diversity of the "Cigar Woman".  Not only is she an SOTL, she has served her country well, is a mother, and now a enjoys her life as a civilian member of the Women of Social Cigar!

Elesix calls herself the "Happy Wanderer'

"I enlisted in the Army and found that it fit me like a glove. Thanks to the Army, I carved out a nitch for myself. I travel to 30 of our 50 States. I went to Germany twice (before and after the wall came down). The best souvenir from there -- is my daughter; she was born in Frankfurt, Germany. I went to Switzerland, Spain, Austria, France, Italy, Luxemburg, and Liechtenstein. Needless to say there's no place like home.

Last Thanksgiving while on vacation and sharing with the family in Florida, I tried a mild cigar recommended by a very nice local store owner in St Augustine. Now that I think about it…I recall the cigar shop owner my Grandfather dealt with were all very nice…I think it’s an occupational hazard. Anyway the memories, the attraction, the desire and the interest was instantly rekindled and I didn’t look back.

Today, I find myself in the company of a different batch of interesting, exciting and amazing characters that bring new meaning to life and the world around us. The people I refer to are those members of Social Cigar (SC) which I joined in Jan 08. More than that is the fact that I previously thought female cigar smokers were a rarity. At SC I found many great women, ladies who I now consider Sisters of the Leaf (SOTL). They advise, support and mentor me through the world of Cigars. It’s an honor and a pleasure to know these Ladies. As they welcomed me into the fold I hope to bring others along as well."

We  are very proud to have you my Sister....thanks for being a Woman of Social Cigar!

This concludes my series on the wonderful women of Social Cigar -
their many faces and personalities, the diversity that make up the 21st Century Cigar Woman. Thank you ladies, I'm proud to know you all....and like Damsel says... I call GROUP HUG!!

Now what have our Brothers been up to this week!

Your source for amazing cigar reviews and ratings, Cigar Inspector talks about the Arturo Fuente Opus X Robusto 1992 Rare Estate Reserve. "Let me just say that it exceeded my expectations." Cigar Inspector gave this cigar a 5 Overall, and was unable to find any "downside to this cigar, however hard I tried." As usual, he offers a great visual of his smoke - thanks for the review!

This past  March 7, Matt from the Dailydoormatt did a Q&A with none other than Dylan Austin of Social Cigar.  In case you haven't been paying attention lately (kidding) Social Cigar is the "place to be" in the cigar culture. Here's a snippet from Matt's interview with Dylan....

"Edgy, informative and entertaining, Social Cigar has collected more than 1,500 in just 5 months. Each member has the ability to tell it like it is -- they can post comments, videos, pictures and reviews of what they have smoked.

I posed some questions to Social Cigar's Dylan Austin. When he's not inventing words like enthusianado and awesomenicity, he is hard at work leading the Social Cigar revolution. Below are his thoughts and hopes for the social network.....

What made you guys start Social Cigar?
Well,we really didn't start Social Cigar. Actually, we were approached by aguy from a marketing agency here in Miami that was building this siteout of his love for cigars and his opposition to Cigar Aficionadosratings. He came to us looking for sponsorship and we fell in love withthe power that unbiased consumer reviews could have. Needless to say wewere in!

What are the hopes and aspirations for the site?
Tohave fun and make as many friends as possible! We wanted to be part ofa social community where consumers could connect, make friends, andprovide unbiased talk and recommendations on the products they love. Ibelieve that Social Cigar is a great resource for anyone who lovescigars and the fact that it's all user driven keeps the content pureand unadulterated. We hope to see 5,000 or so members by this yearsRTDA in July.

How do you envision the site evolving?
ObviouslyI 'd love to see the membership grow larger and larger. But what is most important to me is that the quality of the experience and the information on Social Cigar grows just as the membership does! We arealso in the process of co-sponsoring Social Cigar events nationwide and soon to be international hoping to grow the visibility of this powerful brand.

Well that's just a bit of the interview with Dylan - My question is, WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS - Maybe I should ask Dylan a few questions on behalf of the Women of Social Cigar?     Matt's full interview

Great Interview Matt!  Matt reviewed the Stradivarius Robusto this week - in his words "Did I have a bit of sticker shock when they told me it was $46.50 forone -- of course.  Did I think that this was going to be a knockout cigar -- absolutely.  Was it?  HARDLY."

Well, thats all in the Blogoshpere for this weekend.  I'll leave you with my review.....

Quorum - who'd a thought, check out the ash!

Handmade from short and long filler leaf, this bundle cigar really satisfied me!

From the least expensive category, Quorum has built its reputation as the #1 selling imported handmade bundle in the world.

From its pre-draw, midway and to the nub, I enjoyed the cigar from start to finish. Fruity notes at prelight, a nice mild pepper spice midway with a nutty rich finish at the end.

The ash held way and was firm throughout. Learning from the emperor himself, this jewel, passed Pablo's tap test, and as you can see, I was able to get a good inch and half before I had to take it down!

I had only one concern, the uneven burn, which did even out by midway. Other than that, I would say I'd like to keep a few on hand.

Quorum - you get this Lady's Nod...

Have a safe and Happy Easter Weekend!
