"Thanks everyone for entering your Favorite Gal - and thank you for making this contest such a sucess. Pablo, Jesse and I all agree that each one of these entries are worthy of the "Favorite Gal" crown - butwe had to go with one winner.....so...."
Continuing with my series of the fantastic Women at Social Cigar, recently I sponsored a contest - A meet and greet for the growing new membership of Women Cigar Lovers! I asked the participants to tell us who was their "Favorite Gal" and why. Entries rolled in and what started as a contest to win cigars, and introduce the budding Woman Cigar lovers and their presence on the forum, soon became a tribute and developed into much deeper than what we had anticipated.
"The contest goes a little something like this - Tell us about the favorite woman in your life and why" Matt wrote: This is for you Mom...I love you.For me the top still has to go to my mother Joan. Call me a mommy's boy but I'm proud of it. For 25 years of my life my mother has put all things to the side. One being her career as a successful police officer. To raise two great sons and be a role model and a mom.
Sandi writes:
The favorite woman is my life is my mom, of course.Who else would or could put up with me for 33 yrs and counting and never ever complain!!!! Who else would show up to my law school graduation looking like BoBo the Clown, let me take her to Atlantic City on her birthday so we can let it ride even though she doesn't like to gamble, allow me to smoke cigars in her house at her Moet Party, or tolerate me as I guzzle her last 2 bottles of Moet on New Year’s…my mom, that’s who.
Taz boasts about his wife:
I would have to say the woman in my life would have to be my wife, and I am not saying this to get out of trouble. LOL. My wife and I had dated before getting together this time. That did not work out, then a year later she hunted me down and asked for a second chance. Since then she has been the only woman in my life.
These are just introductions and a few of the heartfelt entries for the "Favorite Gal" - It was agreed that the members who entered, as they began the contest and putting their words into keyboard, their hearts opened up and winning the cigars was no longer the focus - it was about paying tribute to their "Favorite Gal"
The winning entry and our "Favorite Gal" went to an amazing woman - the post was by her husband, each time I read through the thread, I found yet another impressive reason why this woman should wear our crown!
Brian writes:
I have to give a big loving hug and kiss to my wife Denise. She is by far the strongest human being I know. When she was 15, she was diagnosed with endometreosis. At 18, she began taking medicine that would allow her to have children, but giving birth could have killed her. After the birth of her daughter, she had a full hystorectomy,so we are unable to have children between us. I met her right after our Daughter was born(she had just gotten a divorce).
....He was not only physically abusive, he was very abusive mentally. He cheated constantly throughout her marriage, and she felt it was her fault. But, she somehow managed to pull herself back up,divorce him,and earn the money needed for the down payment on the house we live in. All of that before we met. After we met, it took so long to get her to completely open up. Once she did, and our relationship grew, was when I started discovering how wonderful she really is. Her ex has no idea what a great woman he lost. After years of health issues, and emotional challenges, Denise rose to each and every occassion with dignity, kindness and support for her family. Brian tells us how she has dealt with life's blows, by what seemed to me, practicing a basic survival tool "When given lemons - make lemonade"
She is our "Favorite Gal"
And here's my Cigar review for the weekend!
Does this burn look funny to you?
 Filler: HondurasWrapper: HondurasBinder: Honduras
"Mild to medium bodied, this blend of rare aged tobacco has a perfect balance of flavor, complexity, and richness. A very smooth earthy smoke with notes of cedar and a light espresso flavor."The RP Vintage 1990 Box Pressed Maduro - Great Appearance - I hoped this cigar smokes as good as it looked!Well, not so much. This isn't the first RP Vintage I've had that leftme a little disappointed. Kinda like that date that goes sour - it came dressed well, sweet maduro aroma, and I thought we were a match made in heaven! As we approached midway its burn became uneven and its draw was tight. I waited to pick up the notes of espresso, cedar and earthy tones but couldn't move past the tight draw, little smoke, and burn problems. It wasn't until the last leg that RP decided to straighten out, and burn right! Unfortunately, the best seemed to be at the end. By then it was a little late - how does that go - too much, too little, and too late!Sounds like that date when sour to me....Not a great experience, but because of this one Rocky Patel I can't give you a Nod..maybe next time..
That's it for this weekend gang, the Blogoshpere will be back next Weekend!
