Did U Know.....
Cigar Manufacturers can modify tobacco by cross-pollinating different strains. To do this they fertilize the flower of one strain with the pollen of another. These way, they are able to create new breeds known as hybrids....
If a Cigar Manufacturer likes some characteristics of one strain, and some from another, they will cross-pollinate them to create a new hybrid of tobacco....
and this sounds a little familiar
.....from seed to ash, and to better understand the nature of the plant we love - here is how it all begins, Seed Reproduction!
The male must pollinate the female end of the flower in order to produce seeds. When a tobacco flower is pollinated, the seeds will form in pods, or capusules, underneath the flower.
Reproduction - its a beautiful thing.....
Tobacco seeds are unique in that the seed is no bigger than a coffee ground, and one single pod can produce about 2,000 seeds. A single gram of tobacco seeds can contain up to 11,000 seeds. Its hard to believe that something that can be blown away in the wind, can create a natural miracle, but not a wonder that humans harness and transform this miracle into something so intricate as a premium cigar.
