Cigar Smoking Men and Cigar Women.....
What's the buzz, and where did it come from?
Women were the rage back in the "boom days", and what appears now to have been a 90's novelty, slowly crept back into the shadows. Or did they?
Some of the brands from the barage of boutique cigar companies that sprung up during this time have withheld the fad and maintained their quality with good management and desire. Same could be said by the women who began smoking cigars - serious about the culture, they too have maintained their quality, good management and desire to be the Aficonada....
The "Boom" of the 90's came and went. Budding enthusiasts either stayed and cultured their new found hobby, or for some that took up the cigar purely as a fad, faded to black. Those that embraced our community took to the internet and formed a growing virtual cigar culture. Few foresaw the overnight proliferation of the internet and the Cigar Community. There are now a variety of cigar social networks which have found success by cultivating their niche. This is now one of the largest marketing tools for cigar manufacturers.
We are now "Post-Boom Era" and according to Bill Fader, President of then RTDA (now IPCPR) proclaimed in 2001 that "Cigars are live and well". The Cigar Association of America shows that total sales ending 2006, for for all large cigars, popular price and premium, was $3,139,000,000. Notwithstanding the do-gooders that attempt to curb our hobby and enforce unrealistic and unfair legislation down our throats, our culture continues to thrive, and so goes the increase in Women who Smoke Cigars.
So what's the buzz?
