"Cigar Aficionado - we're cool Right?"
"Last night, I had a few moments so I pulled out the December issue of CA - I don't usualy take it too seriously, the reviews are always helpful in someway - I'm still a newbie, so any review is a good review to me! For the most part I enjoy the "Good Life" (its nice to see how the other half live, I suppose) but I came across this article - you probably know which one I'm talking about - it was all about the Crocodile Loafer!" from my discussion at Social Cigar
and then there was....
"Cigars are generally considered male products, and some men have resisted women's usage of them" WHAT!!!
James Belushi is a notorious example:
"Women are fashion-oriented, which means they'll do something for a while and then in three years, after they're done with it, they'll start to knock it. Well, this is not fashion, it's a tradition among gentlemen. Women should leave it alone."
and then I invited Mr. Belushi to join us on Social Cigar...
As a cigar enthusiast, Mr. Belushi are you aware of the changing times?
Mr. Belushi, I personally invite you to join us at Social Cigar, the revolutionary social network of Cigar Enthusionado, and Enthusionada (the "a" is for the welcomed Women Cigar lovers). Web 2.0 at its very best. A site soon to play an important role in the modern day cigar industry.
and I even asked him to give my name...
"And tell them Damsel sent you....I'm competing for a rep spot - I'd appreciate it"
I later came to find out that Mr. Belushi was on the cover of the most recent Cigar Aficionado!
Now, we all know the magnificance of the Cigar Aficionado, and its super works from the editor Marvin Shanken, the spectacular James Suckling and Gordon Mott - and the whole gang on board!
And just because, the magazine has provided limited coverage of Women who enjoy a good cigar (known to some as SOTLs), or any issues that may be remotely of interest to my sisters, does not mean the magazine has alienated us intentionally.
I feel badly that I dissed the meaning behind the "Crocodile Loafer" and started a discussion with the crew at Social Cigar in order to stir things up a bit. I feel badly that I called out Mr. Belushi, and hope that if he did take up my invite to Social Cigar, he would accept me as his "friend", and we could have a Group Hug.
I truly have mad respect for Cigar Aficionado, and will continue to be an avid reader. The only thing I would suggest Mr. Shanken is -
Maybe its time to do another spread on the Cigar Woman - we've come along way since Sharon Stone and Demi Moore!
Social Cigar is a revolutionary network of Cigar Enthusionado/a!
Come join us and tell them Damsel sent you!
