"Nothing like sitting in a warm lounge when its almost freezin' outside
smoking a Cuban Cigar"
Thats right my friends, both sisters and brothers of the leaf - I'm in Canada land of the free to smoke a Cuban Cigar indoors among non cigar smokers in a designated smoking room within a sports bar!
Now there's two issues here which are on the hot seat south of the 49th Parallel - what to do with us, the lover of the leaf and our right to engage in and enjoy the comarraderie of the cigar, and the Cuban embargo restricting our enjoyment of the Cuban Cigar.
I say that to say this....
The US and Canada are children of the same mother - more in common than not. As I sat enoying my brother and our conversation, catching up discussing childhood memories, him smoking his cigarettes, and I enjoying a Cuban Cohiba Cigar, the scenario was not unlike any bar in Washington State. The music, the people, the food, the dozen or so plasma televisions set on different sports stations, were no different than what would be common in any bar in America.
It seems BC was under the no smoking in public places including restaurants, bars, office building etc., but came to a compromise and the law has allowed for specially designated smoking areas within the facility.
Sounds like a smashing idea to me....
And you all know, in Canada there is no other cigar but the Cuban cigar, and imports of Cuban cigars into the country is legal. So it was liberating enjoying my Cuban Cohiba with my brother indoors, out of the cold Canadian wind, sipping a "BlackSheep" special Zambuca Kaluha Coffee, listening to Alicia Keyes in the background, and simply enjoying grown folks business. And not one head turned in surprise to notice a woman smoking a cigar.
What a concept - Freedom, O Canada Style!
That's ok, come by my bar - light up whatever you prefer to smoke, and enjoy!
