August 2008, it would appear that the cigar culture, is again, in the midst of another "boom" era - a result of the internet, and the technology fairy. Social networking, cigar review blogs, and online retailers have appealed to savvy web users, as a form of low cost advertising. I recently read somewhere that this "boom" in comparison to the 90's holy grail, differs in a number of ways. During the 90's, everyone and their mother, brother, sister, cousin and grand-pappy we're on the curiosity trail. Boutique cigar brands were popping up every where. The coolness of the curious became the fad of the day. But just as every bubble must, it popped! There be the decline in cigar sales and the “everyone wants to be a cigar label” faded to black.
Fast forward to the recent "boom" - I'll coin the phrase the "Web 2.0 Cigar Boom". One glimmer of sunshine remaining from the last influx, was those that truly became culturalists adopting the cigar community, fell in love with the history and its rich cultural background. Their passion was ignited and was fuelled by cigar traditions - a hobby was formed with dedication like none other. Among this new group of Aficionado, were women. Yes, understandably women were left to linger in the background; this is after all, the “Old Boy’s Club”. Women were the buzz back in the day, but deemed a novelty. The interest in their market share, along with the fad, soon faded to black....
It’s August 2008 - we are here, alive and well and gathering in "Gotham".
I'm known as Damsel, a Woman who Smokes Cigars, leading the charge for Women in this culture. I've created a social network for Women Cigar Enthusiasts at www.cigars4women.com. Gotham is my pet term for the network of SOTLs, and BOTLs, who gather and discuss anything cigar. Our brothers have joined because they are the men who love us and offer the support we deserve. I created this network as a means to assist the manufacturers in lending valuable insight to the tastes, likes and dislikes of this underserved and viable market share.
So my question presented Dear Editors is "Where have all the Cigar Women Gone at CA?"....
maybe to C4W?

My thoughts.... its time to hit 'em full out - Damsel's about to bust through the doors!
I think there are 2 reasons. First, is the stupid anti-smoking laws, which is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of, and is juast another way of wasting the tax payers money.
Second, I feel, very sadly, that cigar smoking for women, is NOT as popular as it once was. Who knows, trends may change !
Greg
thanks Greg, you are so right about one thing - the anti smoking laws are stupid! But women smoking cigars are increasing despite the lawmakers attempts to curb our hobby.... check out C4W, we haven't gone anywhere, just been incognito...
