''If you want to play the boys' game,'' STAR JONES was saying, ''you've got to smoke their cigars, drink their Scotch and play their golf.''

"More than 30 women had paid $75 to smoke cigars and eat a three-course dinner, and all but a handful began the evening by smoking and drinking not Scotch but champagne. Standing between Club Macanudo's overstuffed leather couches and wooden Indians, several discovered that balancing a stogie and a champagne flute involved a juggling act that required surprising dexterity."

Well, I would say - dexterity is just one of the many accomplished attributes many of us Women who Smoke Cigars share!

The differences between Men and Women have been explored and analyzed by many gurus who all have offered their wisdom on the topic.  For our purpose here - the gap between the male cigar lover, and the female cigar lover is not as complex as written in the journals of life by these gurus! Any that do exist, I agree, are a result of pre existing differences.  As try as I might, bridging the gap may not be as successful as I originally hoped!

I've discovered that we share a love for the cigar, the art of smoking the cigar, the cigar community and the cigar commaraderie, but deep within the natural instinct of man and woman lies the need to be of gender. This uniqueness of each sex, is what draws us toward the center. There we find and treasure the physical, emotional and spiritual connection we need to exist.  Make sense?

Bonding with a cigar is the exterior activity or catalyst, which allows us to meet, greet, make friendships, and perhaps discover a deeper level.  The nature of who we are as man and woman reveals itself - our differences are triggered by a certain event or equally, a certain non event.

Historically, the cigar world has been a man's domain.  Just as Starr Jone's said, "If you want to play the boys' game, ...... you've got to smoke their cigars, drink their Scotch and play their golf.''

So what happens when we say, we don't want to play their game - we have our own game, and want to play it. We don't want to pair scotch with our cigars - we want to sip champagne.... and we want to play our own golf!

What happens then?

We scramble around in search of the birds of feather, in this case, our sisters who also Smoke a good premium Cigar, and we find a scatter of our own.  Attempts to collect and gather our sisters of the love of the leaf, have dwindled away, and become so scarse, that forums and message boards dedicated to the Women who Smoke Cigars have become a literal ghost town, a virtual haven for spam attacks! What happened, did every woman who once loved her cigars and was passionate about the culture, did she give up her hobby - has she changed her mind - or has she given up on the industry and has the industry given up on her? I say, she was never recognized.  Her hidden face and delightful companionship is lurking in the shadows - a prime source of engery waiting to infuse a lightning rod jump in the demographic. With very little risk - How exciting this time could be!

Let us sip our champagne.  Let us meet, greet and discuss matters that concern us. Let us have your equal attention - and if it can't be equal - we'll accept a 55 - 45 split!
