"And then women, clever wenches that we are, starting asking where all the rich men went, and learned they had descended into some smoky netherworld where we weren't exactly welcome. And you can't do that to women anymore guys, because there are equal opportunity laws and Supreme Court rulings and all that jazz that say that's not fair. So we started coming, and we stayed. Why? Because we liked cigars? As I said before, I don't think so. It's because we like men. It's not exactly Einstein's theory of relativity, but it's the truth."

Sharon Krum, Women and Cigars, Our newest Romance, CigarLife.com

So, the "Woman and Cigar" is not a new trend. For me, it is!  Naturally birds of a feather, will flock together. As human nature is woman nature, I feel the need to find my flock and carve out my territory, and perch!

I stumbled upon an article written by Sharon Krum, for the CigarLife, an internet cigar magazine; and from what I could tell, the article was written some years ago, which leads me to believe, that the "penchant" for cigar smoking among women has been around longer than I had first suspected.

Ms. Krum tells it like it is! The resurgence of cigar smoking among women, and all its glory is laid out in a lets be real format, she's straight up and truthful! Women smoke cigars because we have a "lets get the man" agenda. Point blank! Her observations and conclusions smacked me in the head, and opened my eyes to an approach I had not even considered. Or at least, was not willing to admit to until now. Her article exposed the truth and reasoning behind the resurgence of the cigar among its women. We are, "Beauty and the Beast".

My take on the article and her thoughts on women, power, luxury and our obsession with all things Prada, Gucci and Jimmy Choo; and in the spirit of honesty and being one with our sisterhood, I agree with her assumptions! I have always been one to have a look at the man in the mirror (Michael Jackson, and the 90s). It may take me a minute, but eventually I will have a hard look, and sometimes, I like what I see, and sometimes I need a little make-up remover.

Fast cars, power and more power, are characteristics, that have to this day, attracted the majority of women to certain men. A man puffing on anything Robusto, turns me on! It's a status symbol, and reflects his adventurous, mysterious, and "bad boy" persona. I admit to this attraction, and feel the extension of his manhood. The elusive cigar.

Ms. Krum lays it right out, Luxury, Power, Money and Sexuality, are at the center of the cigar culture for both Men and Women. Period. It's all about the "Good Life" for us, and our struggle to achieve the finer things in life. The theory that the best things in life are free, is a theory that we've abandoned and exchanged for the "I'm good, but I'm getting mine" mind-set. Power, Luxury, and the Cigar. The cigar provides the culture, and camaraderie for "Birds of feather, to flock together". Puffing on your favorite cigar at your favorite cigar bar, where everyone knows you by name, is a status symbol, and reflects power. Subscribing to the Cigar Aficionado, and attendance at a Cigar tasting, is how you do, and brings you closer to your comrades.

So, the cigar bar lures us in. Its a new dating game. A new singles bar without the meat market spin; packed with men of power (the way we like 'em), and we now have a new dance. My virgin experience with the cigar was thanks to a man of power. He turned me onto my first Romeo y Julieta at a Cigar Bar on Sunset. Case in point. I do enjoy the relaxation that a good cigar smoke offers, and the fact that men find it such a turn on to see me with a cigar at a tasting, adds to the attraction! The slight insecurity I previously felt as a result of infringing on "its a man's world" and his cigar world territory, has diminished with the affirmation that men find women who smoke cigars "sexy", and for most, we are welcome into their world.  One man Ms. Krum interviewed had this to say, " I love
watching a woman smoke a cigar. I think for some of them it's a power trip, but then it is probably for guys too." I knew all along that men view the presence of women in their cigar world as "eye candy", but we have our own agenda too, and confirmation that men and women are on the same page with this, is real talk!

So, all in all, Ms. Krum provided a very enlightened point of view, and an insight that I had suspected existed in the cigar culture all along. For me, its exciting, its where I belong and I admit to the attraction of Power, Money and the Sexuality of the Cigar! Real talk.

In summary. Just as we have always done, we came, we saw, we smoked, and we have conquered. I say thanks to those women who came ahead of me and opened the cigar bar door!

And thanks for your word, Sister!
