I stumbled upon this photo during my usual haunt through the web-sphere for interesting cigar tales and pieces linking my journey into what really makes us tick - that is the Woman who smokes a Cigar.

and then I discovered "the Men who Love Us"....

originally uploaded by Hugo*.

As part of the amazing cigar culture, deep and rich with historical notation, these shots portraying the true love for the cigar jumped out at me; stealing my curiousity and creating a more meaningful rendition of the "why" I chose to join this cigar culture.

Our western attitude commands that we reserve ourselves and maintain a more postured position and side with the soothsayers of the day - banish all forms of cigar smoking, slap a tax, make some money and issue conflicting public opinions. Should we morph and throw aside our desires for a good cigar in exchange with the status quo?

"Hell No...I won't Go!"

The eyes are the soul's pathway, and as captured in these photos, reveal their struggle. The cigar is featured extroaniously, and meant to exhibit the lifestyle behind the cigar's culture. My interpretation of these photos is made with great respect, passion and compassion for the history and cultural significance of the cigar and see its lover in the forefront.

Yet another interesting discovery for the 2008 Cigar Woman!
